PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

Exploration, Excitement, Experiences. They’re what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.

This Course is made up of 3 sections:
PADI eLearning ( approx. 5 hours)
One day diving at Lake Rotoma
One day diving on our Boat - Ruku Moana 

Dive days can be completed in any order

You’ll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:

  • Underwater navigation

  • Deeper water diving  (typically anywhere from 18-30 metres/ 60-100 feet)

  • Three other types of dives as selected by your instructor depending on the conditions and dive environment. These dives could be a wreck dive, fish Identification, peak performance buoyancy, night dive or underwater naturalist

Prerequisites
To take this course, you must be:
PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

What You Learn

The knowledge and skills you get in the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course vary with your interest and the adventures you have, but include
Practical aspects of deep diving
Physiological effects of deeper scuba diving.
More ways to use your underwater compass
How to navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time
How to better use your dive computer and electronic Recreational Dive PlannerTM (eRDPTM)
And much, much more, depending on the Adventure Dives you choose

The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all the basic scuba gear  including your underwater compass. Depending on which three adventure dives you pick, you may also try out an underwater camera a dive light, a dry suit, lift bags, a dive flag/float or other specialty gear.

How we do it

The PADI Advanced open water course is made up of 5 dives. We have split this into two sessions to give you more flexibility on how you do your PADI Advanced Open Water course.

You will need to book the Advanced Open Water Course (Lake Day) to complete 3 dives at Lake Rotoma.

AND book on any boat trip to complete the other two dives needed for the certification.

Cancellation / Rescheduling

Once your course is booked no refund will be issued if you decide to pull out prior to the course start date or after the course has started for any reason.

Your course can be rescheduled providing you give us a least 2 weeks notice . Within 2 weeks or after the course has started $200 rebooking fee will apply.

This includes if you have to withdraw or change dates for any reason, including illness, injury, not passing medical requirements, equalizing problems, failure to complete the elearning or swim test.

This reschedule fee is required to be paid prior to confirming the new course dates.

We reserve the right to reschedule the course in the rare event that minimum course numbers are not met. In this event reschedule fee will be waived or a full refund will be offered.
